Just plain silly
I signed up for a site with two fields: name and email.
The name field was pre-populated with the word "optional."

Low and behold, I got this email trigger:

"Hello Optional:
You are receiving this message because you have requested to be added to our newsletter."

Brilliant.

Jeff -

As I sit here drinking my Starbucks coffee, I can't help but think about your post from yesterday. Amazing to me (still) that large companies often do not follow basic...err...*best* practices. But I digress...

Email triggers. The bottom line is "bad data in, bad data out" right?

Anyhow...are we even now with posting comments on eachothers blogs? Ha ha. Seriously, I truly enjoy what you, Ryan, Dylan and the rest of the eROI Crew blog about. Great stuff. You are all spot on.
