Just plain silly
I signed up for a site with two fields: name and email.
The name field was pre-populated with the word "optional."

Low and behold, I got this email trigger:

"Hello Optional:
You are receiving this message because you have requested to be added to our newsletter."

Brilliant.

Starbucks
I like to keep an eye on Starbucks email. All in all, they do a great job. I was pretty excited to see a new campaign that they launched today, where you can invite your buddies to meet you at Starbucks, or even at local events in your area.

What was really disappointing, was the email generated from this campaign:

Subject Line: **** SPAM **** andy has invited you to meet!
TO: andy [noreply@letsmeetatstarbucks.com]

You've Been Invited to Meet!

You've been invited by
andy

get coffee

Let's go to
coffee

Click here to view the invite.

(The link dropped me into a landing page that was consistent with the campaign, but I am wondering why the decision not to deliver an HTML email? I would have overlooked this email had I not sent it to myself and expected it to be there.)
