There is a hinge of excitement when these daily result emails come through the pipe.
Rewind: There is a great campaign running right now called
Spot the Bull. It seems to be based off of a type of raffle we would have back in SouthWest Oklahoma called
Cow Patty Bingo. Rather than sit around and wait for the bull to take a dump, they have rigged up a GPS and take a daily snapshot at a pre-determined time. Consumers have the opportunity to vote on a unit in the grid, hoping the bull will be in their spot. Guess correctly and win Glastenbury tix.
Why is this campaign great?
1. First off, it is engaging, and very easy to understand.
2. Secondly, it touches me every day with results, and also reminding me to go back and choose my spot for the day (you can vote every day).
3. When I get the results, they have used a placeholder with my name in
bold above the fold, making me think that just maybe I am the winner.
4. Finally, I feel like I am a part of the campaign. In 1998, a friend of mine launched a crab cam, monitoring his fish tank. There was a chance that you could be watching when the crab made a move, and it was hypnotizing. Strangely enough, this has the same aura. Its like I cannot stop thinking about where that dang bull is going to be. I am exagerating a bit, but nonetheless, check it out.
A couple drawbacks of the campaign:
1. I think that the branding is well en-grained in the creative, but moreso for Glastenbury than Orange.
2. When I play the game on day 2,3,4,etc., I continue to have to pony up my contact information, rather than being identified from an email click.
